Purple has always been my favorite color. I mean, it’s the color of royalty so there should be no surprises there. Right now purple lipstick is probably not the most popular lip color for most people, and it’s not seen as classic as a red lip but, to me it is classic. Before I mastered the red lip I figured out how to make purple work for me, and these are some of my favorites.
If you missed it, don’t forget to check out my list of favorite RED lipsticks.
1. ColourPop Ultra Blotted Lip in Split ($7)

First of all, I’m wearing this lip color now and I think I look great. But really, this Ultra-Blotted lip from ColourPop is my go-to, and I reach for it the most especially for work and for my travel make-up kit.
It’s a berry color that works year round. I also love the formula. You won’t get a full coverage, opaque look, rather a sheer one that can be as light as a stain, or can be built up to light/medium coverage.

2. Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain in Endless Purple ($14)

I bought this color years ago, but Sephora discontinued the color. Over the past few years, I would check the product page and see if they brought it back, but no luck. HOWEVER, recently Sephora did bring it back, so I didn’t waste any time putting in my order.
The color is very unique, and I would describe it as a dark mauve berry color. I also made that up, I don’t think you could have a mauve berry color, what would that even start to look like?

3. Huda Beauty in Material Girl ($20)

“A fierce plum”
I like this formula, it’s a matte liquid lipstick, but it’s not as drying as some other brands (i.e. ColourPop). The trade off is that it’s not very kiss-proof.

4. Glossier Generation G in Jam ($18)

This is a good choice for the days when you’re going for that “no make-up” look. It’s buildable and you not drying at all! I would describe this as a non-liquid version of the ColourPop Ultra Blotted formula and it’s gorgeous.
Note: I have been using the same tube from late 2016 and it looks like it’s been reformulated since then, so I would take that into consideration.

5. Kat Von D in Bauhau5 ($20)

This color is described as a deep raspberry, which I put in the purple bucket. This is a perfect spring/summer lip color and this paired with a daytime smokey (brown/gold) is the best combination.
